PANEER PASANDA

Its a popular dish made with paneer marinated with spices , yogurt and cooked in rich and creamy sauce.

Its a delicious and satisfying dish that sure to please !

Ingredients:

For the marinade :

  • 250 gm paneer cut into cubes or according to your design
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tbsp garlic and ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala powder  
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp cayenne pepper (optional)

For the gravy :

  • 2 tbsp butter / ghee
  • 1 onion fined chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro  for garnish

Instruction:

  1. Marination of Paneer– Mix all the marinate ingredients in a bowl by putting yogurt , ginger – garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, salt and mix well. Add the slices / cubes of paneer and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Cooking process  – Heat butter or ghee in a pan and start cooking the marinated paneer in the butter/ghee until it get golden brown from both the sides and keep aside the fried paneer.
  3. Making of Gravy – On the same pan add more butter/ ghee if needed , now puth the chopped onion in the pan saute it till it gets little brown, then add ginger and garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  4. Add tomato puree- Now after putting ginger and garlic paste add the tomato puree into it and cook for 3-4 min .
  5. Add cream and spices – Pour the heacy cream and put the spices like cumin powder, coriander powder , garam masala powder and salt and stir well to combine the mixture.
  6.  Simmer the gravy – Bring the gravy to the simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes till it gets thicker gently.
  7. Add the cooked fry paneer – Add the fried slices/ cubes paneer to the gravy and cook for another 2-3 min. Keep in mind the gas should be simmer. Now burn of the gas.
  8.  Garnish and serve – garnish the paneer pasanda with cilantro and serve with naan/ tandoori roti or rice according to taste.
